Grimslade sits in the green foothills of the Westfold, a working Rohirric settlement of timber halls, thatched roofs and dry-stone walls. It began as one of our earliest Rohan builds — a humble blockout in the winter of 2020 — and has been reworked, expanded and re-detailed ever since.
The build log below traces that journey, era by era, from the first foundations to the hold as it stands today.
The very first stones. A rough terrain pass and a handful of test houses mark out where the hold will stand.
Streets, the first proper great-hall and surrounding farmland appear. The Rohirric style begins to settle in.
Outlying farms, fences and paths knit the build together. Grimslade is now a believable, lived-in place.
A sweeping detail pass — custom roofs, gardens, market clutter and a reworked palette bring real texture to every lane.
Furnished halls, lantern-lit interiors and a softened landscape around the hold's edges.
