Since 2011

Middle-Earth for All

EpicQuestz was established in 2011 by three builders who loved two things equally: Tolkien's Middle-Earth and Minecraft. What began as a handful of friends raising walls together has grown into a build team spanning years, servers and hundreds of contributors.

Our purpose has never changed: to bring Middle-Earth to the Minecraft community, free for everyone. This is where our motto - Middle-Earth for all - comes from. Every completed map is released for download without any paywalls, and no premium locked content.

Today our flagship is the Rohan Project. Our main focus is to bring the whole of the Riddermark together in one continuous map. However, we are also working on maps set in Gondor, Eriador and beyond. Come visit our public build server where you can build, interact & share with the community, or even become part of the build team.

Our ranks

• Creator Leadership

The leadership of EpicQuestz. Creators oversee every project and sign off on each new official build.

• Designer Staff

Our highest building rank. Designers lead the large, long-term primary projects like Minas Tirith, and can claim plots for new ones.

• Artist Member

Elite builders whose work meets our standards with little to no revision. Artists develop new designs and styles, and can lead secondary projects: towns, villages and forts. How to become an Artist →

• Builder Member

The heart of the team. Builders earn their rank through an application and an in-game trial, then help raise every official project. Become a Builder →

How we build

The building process within our Build Team has been continuously refined throughout the last 15 years. Oftentimes, new projects begin with a community vote; which map would the builders like to build next? Then the project Leader steps up and begins the planning phase. TBA separate the Planning phase (explain how research is done, how we do planning behind the scenes with history, logic and infrastructure/lore considerations. Then laying things out in minecraft, composition, etc...) then explain the building phase with jobs plugin, build sessions, and 'prise d'initiative'
