Eriador

Once a kingdom of kings, now a wilderness of memory. Between the Blue Mountains and the Misty Mountains lie the bones of Arnor — ruined towers, forgotten roads, and a green and quiet Shire that has no idea what watches over it in the dark.

The lore

Eriador is a land built from a broken empire. Elendil's North-kingdom of Arnor bled away over centuries — split by succession, ruined by Angmar, gutted by plague — leaving a wilderness where hobbit smials and half-timbered Bree-land inns sit a mile from grass-grown Númenórean ruins, watched in secret by the Rangers of the North. That contrast of the cosy and the colossal is exactly the mood we build for: Bree under its hill, the farming village of Setton, and Weathertop rising bare and wind-scoured over the Lone-lands.
